2012 Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Annual Business Awards Reception
The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce honors businesses in select categories and a business leader at the Annual Business Awards event.
The Business Leader of the Year award is given to a person who has demonstrated personal and professional leadership within the for-profit and/or non-profit community in Alexandria. This person is well-respected in the business community, has played a key role in the success of their business (growth, innovation, employee development, etc.) as well as given back to Alexandria. This person has a positive vision for the City’s future and has demonstrated their commitment to Alexandria.
To be considered for a Business of the Year award, the organization must be setting the standards for excellence and innovation with their business practices and community involvement. Business must be a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Categories include Small Business, Medium Business, Environmentally Friendly, Disability Service, Association/Nonprofit, and Overall Business of the Year. A selection committee comprised of previous winners selects the winners through a competitive review process.
Nominating forms are available on the Chamber website by August of each of year. We look forward to receiving your nominations for the 2013 Business Awards process.
In 2012 The Chamber honoroed Chef Cathal Armstrong as Business Leader of the Year and selected the following businesses as businesses of the year:

The 2012 Annual Business Awards Event was held at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall & Arts Center, presented by the Land Rover of Alexandria. The event was presented by Land Rover of Alexandria and sponsored by Ballston Bid, John Marshall Bank, Alexandria Carpet One Floors & Home, B3 Solutions, Maginniss + Del Ninno Architects, Joyous Events, Land Carroll & Blair PC, International Gourmet Food and Virginia Commerce Bank. Silent Auction items were donated by the Washington Nationals, The Eat Good Food Group, Hilton Old Town, The Lorien Hotel, The Little Theater of Alexandria, King Street Blues, Mayor Euille, Sheriff Lawhorne, Hadeed Carpet, BLT Printers and Hotel Monaco. Trophy Mart and Helen Olivia Florists provided in kind donations for the event.
Chef Armstrong was selected for the Chamber’s top business award as a result of the enormous respect he receives within the business community for his dedication and exemplary leadership. The Eat Good Food Group, is an Alexandria, VA based restaurant group, created by Chef Cathal Armstrong and his wife/business partner Meshelle.

Alexandria is extremely fortunate to have a chef and business leader of his caliber based in the City, as he shares his renowned culinary expertise in our community. In addition, our 2012 business award recipients, and all of our nominees, represent a diverse and thriving business community that reflects the City that we serve” stated Andrew Palmieri, Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board.
After the awards presentation, guests were treated to tastings from Chef Armstrong’s restaurants including consisting of Restaurant Eve, The Majestic, Virtue Feed and Grain, Society Fair, Eamonn's A Dublin Chipper, PX, and Bar TNT.
