Alexandria Small Business Development Center

The Alexandria Small Business Development Center (SBDC), hosted by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, is a community resource that provides services without charge. Since 1997 the SBDC has assisted new and existing businesses in areas such as:

  • Cash flow assessment and management
  • Managing accounts receivable & inventory
  • Strategic planning/business planning
  • Expansion feasibility/advice
  • Financial analysis and access to capital sources
  • Business best practices
  • Operations management
  • Marketing strategies
  • Market research resources
  • Links to other businesses or business groups
  • Referrals to attorneys, accountants and other business professionals
  • Tax/regulatory compliance guidelines
  • Trade and professional association referral
  • Federal/State contracting and certification guidance
  • Acquaint business owners with community resources
  • Economic downturn assistance

The Alexandria SBDC works one-on-one with Alexandria businesses. Its Funding Partners include The City of Alexandria, the US Small Business Administration and Virginia Commerce Bank. The SBDC also receives funding from BB&T, PNC Bank, Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust Company, HSBC, Commonwealth One Federal Credit Union, United Bank, United Central Bank, Dominion Foundation, and several other companies and individuals.
